Shosatkovich’ ballet The Bolt is a full-length ballet with three acts and seven scenes. The ballet is an ironic tale of slovenly work in a Soviet factory. The composer himself fashioned a suite (Suite no. 5) of eight movements in 1931 wich was first performed in Leningrad in 1933. The music consists of a succession of caricatures. This arrangement for symphonic wind orchestra of the suite contains all original eight movements.
