The most famous of Peterson-Berger’s compositions is undoubtly his Frösöblomster, Op.16. A collection of romantic, nationalistic and very swedish set of pieces, reminding of warm, calm, harmonic bright pre-summer evenings (where the sun almost never goes down and paritcularly not in the north where Wilhelm lived). They were composed during a time of 18 years (1896 – 1914) and was brought together afterwards as a collection. The result was the great breakthrough for Vilhelm and the most famous of the pieces, Sommarsång (Summer Song in english), is known to about every Swede. Even to people generally uninterested to music and many piano students have played this piece.
