Giuseppe Verdi’s romantic opera ‘Il Trovatore’ lives by its streams of memorable melodies. One of those is the aria ‘D’amor sull’ali rosee’. It is sung by Leonora in the fourth act of the Opera: Manrico has been captured in an attempt to save his mother from being executed and is now being held in prison by the Count of Luna. Leonora has come to the prison in disguise in order to see him. She hopes that he will be sustained by her love for him.
