Beside his 150 waltzes Johann Strauss composed several operettas of which ‘Die Fledermaus’ his best contribution to this genre is. The overture is firmly in the tradition established by Rossini and even starts with a traditional audience ‘shutter-up’, succeeded by a veritable cascade of mouth-watering melodies ending in a real gypsy dance.
This new orchestration was made for small Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with opera conductor Enrico Delamboye.
