Puccini’s Opera ‘Manon Lescaut’ is based on the 1731 novel ‘L’histoire du chevalier des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut’ by the Abbé Prévost. The aria ‘In quelle trine morbide is sung in the 2nd act of the Opera by Manon: remembering Des Grieux’s love, Manon is not sure she made the right decision to live with Geronte. Even with the luxury she has, there is something that chills her soul.
